The Great Walk of Africa

We sometimes ask ourselves: What is it about the Great Walk that gets into people? I think the closest answer to this would have to be “a little bit of everything”, which would include the wild atmosphere of the region we hike through; the camp settings; the super-industrious, and always smiling Tropical Ice staff; the wonderfully healthy, fresh cuisine; the evening campfires; starry skies; the wildlife; and of course, the elephants of Tsavo.

These are the things, which bring so many of our visitors back to do the Great Walk of Africa again and again...a few have done it over 5 times. And, why not? It's never the same twice.

This 2024 season, which is nearing its end, has yielded some amazing moments. Lions have been plentiful, as have leopards...and the African hunting dogs have been increasing in numbers.
